1. Future Tense

1)      Simple Future Tense

Future Tense dipakai untuk menunjukkan hal yang akan terjadi pada waktu mendatang (sebentar maupun lama). Pola kaliamtnya adalah :

Subject + Shall/will + V1

Contoh : We shall (will) probably goto Scotland in june.

Catatan : untuk subjek you, he , she, it, they, atau kata yang digantikannya, maka”shall” tidak boleh dipakai dalam future tense, dan harus digunakan will. Misalnya :

You will take an exam.

They will get here around 7 a.m

The sun will arise at 6.08 tomorrow morning

Mary will be here at eight next Sunday.

Penggunaan “ be going to” sebagai alternative pengganti “shall dan will” bisa di pakai jika disertai suatu kepastian, misalnya :

Lucy is going to success because she works hard.

I bought some wood because I’m  goingto make a bookcase.

2)      Future Continous Tense

Future Continous Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang sedang terjadi atau berlaku pada suatu saat tertentu diwaktumendatang. Polanya adalah :

Subject + will be + V1 ing

Contoh :

At 10 a’clock tomorrow, father will be working in his office. You’ll regonize the girl when you see her. She’ll be wearing a yellow hat.

3)      Future Perfect Tense

Future Perfect Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa sesuatu akan telah telah terjadi sebelum saat tertentu pada waktu mendatang. Pola kalimatnya  adalah :

Subject + will have + V3

 

Contoh : Next year Ted an Amy will have been married or 25 years.

It’s 7.20 now. I think when you get there, the meeting will have already started.

4)      Future Perfect Continous Tense

Future Perfect Continous Tense menunjukkan apa yang akan telah terjadi atau beralngsung sebagian dan belum selesai. Polanyaadalah :

Subject + will + have been + V1 ing

 

Contoh : By the end of this year we will have been working in this office for a decade.

5)      Past Future Tense

Past Future Tense digunakan untuk menunjukkan suatu kebiasaan diwaktulampau. Pola kalimatnya :

Subject + Would + V1

 

Contoh :

After school, he would wait for his girl-friend outside the office.

Meskipun penggunaan “would” ini benar, tapi yang lazim digunakan adalah “used to”. Sehingga, contoh tersebut menjadi “ After school, he used to wait for his girlfriend outside the office.

Catatan : Struktur would + V1 juga dipakai dalam kalimat pengandaian tipe II dan disebut “unreal past” atau bentuk Past Tense palsu karenatidak berkaitan dengan waktu lampau.

Contoh :

If I were you, I woukd acceot his offer.

If motherwerehere now, we would ask her about it.

6)      Past Future Perfect Tense

Past Future Perfect Tense khususnyadipakai dalam kalimat pengandaian (Conditional Clause ) Tipe III dengan formula :

Subject + would have+ V3

Misalnya :

She would have taken the medicine ifit hadn’t tasted so awful.

If the weather had been nice yesterday, I would have gone to the beach.
