1. Past Tense

1)      Simple Past Tense

Simple Past Tense digunakan untuk sesuatu yang terjadi diwaktu lampau. Pola kalimatnya :

Subject + V2

Contoh : The police stopped me last night.

The house cost $30.000 in 1980

2)      Past Continous Tense

PastContinous Tense digunakan untuk sesuatuyang sedang terjadi di waktu lampau. Tenseini ditandai oleh anak kalimat dalam bentuk Simple Past Tense.  Pola kalimatnya :

Subject + was/were + V₁ ing

Contoh : This time last year I was living in brazil.

When Jerry arrived, we were having dinner

3)      Past Perfect Tense

Past Perfect Tense untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang terjadi sejak dulu dan telah selesai sebelum waktu tertentu diwaktu lampau. Ini adalah bentuk yang lebih lampau daripada Simple Past Tense. Pola kalimat :

Subject + had + V3

Contoh : Before I met him, I had sent my photograph to him.

She had finished her study before married him last year.

4)      Past Perfect Continous Tense

Past Perfect Continous Tense untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang terjadi sejak dulu dan masih berlangsung diwaktu lampau. Pola kalimatnya adalah :

Subject + had + been + V1 ing

Contoh : She had been working there for three years before dhe left it.
